Dr Caroline Bunting is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. She has been working in the NHS for over 25 years, and also in private practice since 2014.

After gaining her 1st Class Honours degree in Psychology at the University of Oxford in 1995, Caroline worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Oxford and as an Assistant Psychologist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Following the completion of her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in 2000 she worked in a primary care psychology service in Forth Valley, Scotland. Between 2004 and 2020 she worked in a secondary mental health care NHS Trust in Suffolk, working within Adult mental health services in Newmarket, Haverhill, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich. Caroline currently works as part of the Staff Support Psychology Service at West Suffolk Hospital, as well as in private practice.

Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist Caroline has trained in Cognitive Analytic Therapy, gaining her post-graduate Diploma in 2005 and becoming an accredited CAT Supervisor in 2012. She has taught on both a Clinical Psychology Doctorate course at UEA and a CAT Post-graduate Diploma course. She has attended many CBT training events and workshops and completed The Health Coaching for Behaviour Change Programme in 2014, becoming an accredited coach at the EMCC EQA (European Mentoring and Coaching Council, European Quality Award) Foundation Level. In 2019 Caroline completed her training as an Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing – EMDR Therapist (EMDR Academy, EMDR Europe Accredited Training).

Caroline uses a range of different psychological models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Health Coaching, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy, and specialises in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT).

Professional Accreditations

Dr Caroline Bunting is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with professional accreditation / registration with the following professional bodies.

Clinical Psychologists hold a Protected Title, this means that you can only call yourself a Clinical Psychologist if you meet a high level of doctoral level training, competence and expertise.  These standards are set by The Health & Care Professions Council and endorsed by The British Psychological Society.

Health & Care Professions Council

Caroline is a Practitioner Psychologist, registered with the Health & Care Professions Council since it became the regulatory body for clinical psychologists in 2009.

British Psychological Society (BPS); Division of Clinical Psychology

Caroline has been a member of the BPS since 1996. She is a Chartered Member (CPsychol) and an Associate Fellow (AFBPsS). Her name is on the Directory of Chartered Psychologists.

The Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT)

Caroline has been a member of ACAT since 2005, and is an accredited CAT Practitioner and CAT Supervisor. Caroline has previously been on the Editorial Board for Reformulation, the journal produced by ACAT.
